STANDARD GRADE
Products will have uniform color and the amount of defect allowed is minimal. Occasional pin knots, very small mineral steaks and some sap in profiles is allowed. Light and clear finishes work well with our standard grade products.
PAINT GRADE
Available in Red Oak, Birch and Hard Maple. Products manufactured from this sort will contain a mixture of color from very light to very dark, but will be sound with no knots or voids in the material. Very dark stains or painting solid colors on species manufactured from this sort is recommended.
CHARACTER GRADE
Other common names are natural or calico. Products manufactured from this sort will contain as much variation in color as the wood species allows. We blend the heartwood with sapwood along with some defect to achieve a look that truly represents the natural look of the wood species.
RUSTIC GRADE
Everything that character has with more defects allowed. We mostly focus on trying to get sound knots in this sort. More mineral, burl and streaking is also usually present. Knots will be sound but may not be complete. Cracks, voids and chipped knots are common. Stiles and rails will generally contain defects but fewer knots.

Ash White
Sapwood of the tree, can vary in color, cream color to light brown. wide, vivid grain pattern.

Ash Brown
Heartwood of the tree varies in color from light to dark brown. The face will be uniform. The back may contain sapwood.

Ash Character
Contains variation in color. Blended heartwood and sapwood along with some defects to represent a natural look.

Alder
Smooth hardwood, straight grain, even texture. Appearance ranges from pale red to reddish brown.

Alder Rustic
Character with more defects. more mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Birch
Uniform white appearance with a subtle grain pattern.

Birch Character
Contains variation in color. Blended heartwood and sapwood along with some defects to represent a natural look.

Birch Paint Grade
Mixture of very light to very dark. No knots or voids in the material. Very dark stain or paint recommended.

Birch MDF
Mixture of very light to very dark. No knots or voids in the material. Paint recommended.

Black Walnut
Uniform black to a creamy black color. Open wide grain. Very rich appearance. Sap is cream color and may appear on the back of doors.

Black Walnut Rustic
Character with more defects. More mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Cherry
Smooth even grained hardwood known for it's rich warm look. Color varies from light to dark red. Color will change if exposed to UV lighting.

Cherry Character
Contains variation in color. Blended heartwood and sapwood along with some defects to represent a natural look.

Cherry Rustic
Character with more defects. More mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Hickory Character
Very dense, heavy wood. Color can vary from cream to brown to black within the same board. Contains variation in color. Blended heartwood and sapwood along with some defects to represent a natural look.

Hickory Rustic
Character with more defects. More mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Mahogany African
Red to brown color with grain varying from wide bands to tight almost invisible grain.

Maple
Uniform white in color. Open grain pattern. Use a sand sealer and caution with dark stains.

Maple Rustic
Character with more defects. More mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Maple Character
Contains variation in color. Blended heartwood and sapwood along with some defects to represent a natural look.

Maple Paint Grade
Mixture of very light to very dark. No knots or voids in the material. Very dark stain or paint recommended.

Mixture of very light to very dark. No knots or voids in the material. Paint recommended.

Pine White/Clear
Yellow in color with some reddish tones present. Wide, open grain pattern.

Pine Knotty
Same as clear but knots, mostly red, some black. lots of character in this sort.

Poplar
Poplar sapwood is white, sometimes with stripes. The heartwood is usually tan, but can range from greenish brown to dark green, purple, black, blue and yellow.

Poplar MDF
Mixture of very light to very dark. No knots or voids in the material. Paint recommended.

Red Oak
All of the red oak we use is northern oak. Prominent varying grain pattern. Color ranges from light brown to light red. Occasional pin knots and small mineral streaks are allowed.

Red Oak Rustic
Character with more defects. More mineral, burl, and streaking. Knots will be sound but may not be complete.

Red Oak Paint Grade

Red Oak Rift Cut
Cut at 30 to 60 degrees to the growth rings. Straighter grain than standard with wider more figured bands than ¼ sawn.

Red Oak 1/4 Sawn
Cut at 60 to 90 degrees to the growth rings to create a straight grain pattern.

White Oak
Very dense and heavy. Slow growing wood specie so the grain is tight. Grey to grey/brown color.

White Oak 1/4 Sawn
Cut 60 to 90 degrees to the growth rings to create a straight grain pattern. Mirroratic rays and fleck are common.

White Oak Rift Oak
Cut at 30 to 60 degrees to growth rings to create a straighter grain than standard and more figure than ¼ sawn.
